![]() Most of the dailies required beating on mobs or finishing up bonus area objectives (which meant beating up mobs). ![]() My biggest take-away from Tanaan is that the area was clearly designed with flight in mind, or else the place was a colossal failure in design because the developers had accidentally created a zone that practically screams out for flight, which speaks poorly of the design team. And honestly, if your theory is what happens, what awful, awful design. I'm not even sure we'll get flight in 7.0 after a long questline. I mean I see old servers of MMOs like Nintendo selling old 8 and 16 bit games on Virtual Console.)īlizzard also stated that the meta-achievement will begin in 7.0, but that flight won't be available at launch. IMO this would be a perfect time to have the 'old way' going, and then keep moving the current game ahead. I think the reason why them not wanting to open one bugs me so much is they keep saying 'We want to move the game ahead, not back!' Yes, by taking away something that's been in the game for ages, you're moving forward. I'm not condoning them, and in fact, I think Blizz could basically hit them right in the heart if they'd just release some on their own-this way all the old guard who want them can play legally, Blizz won't have to worry about them drying up if the amount of people who play on the private ones are any indication, but yeah, they don't want to despite EQ and Runescape having official old servers-I think the latter does anyway. ![]() For one, it would hit the private servers, in a sort of 'Legalizing Pot' sort of way-they exist because people want to play on them and will play on them and they can put the servers in places Blizz can't reach, and I've done a little research and thousands and thousands of players are on these-some of which have level 60 guilds who raid and everything. (That being said, I think they'd be fine if they put out a vanilla server. I think the devs are having trouble accepting this fact(or at least some of them are.) Could do older servers, sure, but don't bother trying taking it away from the live game. Being accessible isn't a bad thing, but it's a case that follows the whole Cata Hard Dungeon thing, once you give accessibility, you can't take it away from the live game. People went into it knowing 'okay, I can't fly unless it's these zones and this is how it works.'īlizz I think, in a way, dug their own pit by making flying SO easily accessible later on(TBC it was, but the epic flyer was a decent paywall in those days), and hell, maybe even the game. Hell, FFXIV added it, but they have a system for it(basically-each zone you need to find 10 Aether Currents to attune to-you can just pull a map online if you want-and complete five quests in each zone, none of which are particularly hard. I think games that don't add flight-GW2 doesn't want to add it(it does have waypoints), Rift doesn't want to add it(it has pretty crazy fast ground mounts at least, I have one of the fastest and that thing is fast), can get away with it.
